Our Team
Meelah de Lima - Creator and Owner
My name is Meelah de Lima, and I am the Creator and Owner of THE PRISM. My journey has been shaped by both personal and academic experiences that led me to create a space where wellness, spirituality, and healing come together.
I completed a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology and Criminology, a path I chose because of my own struggles with mental health that began in adolescence, as well as the intergenerational challenges within my family. Studying psychology gave me the tools to better understand human behaviour, but more importantly, it deepened my awareness of how vital compassion, support, and safe spaces are in the process of healing.
Alongside my studies, I have walked the difficult road of supporting my mother through multiple autoimmune conditions, including arthritis and endometriosis, as well as countless surgeries and her own battles with mental health. That experience showed me how illness and adversity ripple through families, and how isolating it can feel when systems of support fall short.
Beyond these challenges, my family carries a long history of spiritualists, and I am proud to continue that legacy within THE PRISM. It is here that I combine my academic background, my personal journey, and my spiritual heritage to build a space dedicated to turning pain into purpose.
For me, THE PRISM is not only a business but a living reflection of resilience, transformation, and the belief that light can always be found when it passes through the prism of mind, body, and soul.
Maxine Victor - Founding Inspiration
The vision for THE PRISM was born from my own life - one marked by trauma, resilience, and a deep spiritual awakening.
I lost my father at a young age and was raised by a mother who struggled with mental illness, addiction, and undiagnosed autoimmune disease. Those early years exposed me to pain, but also to the unseen world of spirit, endurance, and the extraordinary capacity for healing.
By the age of 14, I was standing on my own, supporting myself and caring for my younger siblings.
At 17, I entered the hairdressing industry - starting on salon floors and working my way up through education and management. My passion and perseverance led me to become General Manager of Joico, where I worked alongside global brands such as L’Oréal, Goldwell, and Kevin Murphy. I helped build Kevin Murphy South Africa from nothing into one of the most respected names in the industry.
But life had more lessons to teach me. I was later diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, my mental health declined, and I found myself in an abusive marriage that forced me to sell my companies and begin again.
It was through that breaking - what I now call my “dark night of the soul” - that I discovered sacred tools, rituals, and practices that began to restore me. These same practices have become the foundation of THE PRISM.
Today, my daughter Meelah carries this light forward as the Creative Director and Vision Keeper of THE PRISM and Dragons of the Prism. I am honored to be acknowledged as the Original Inspiration behind its creation - a reflection of my own healing journey and the lessons born from it.
